This is an old farmhouse that needed a modern upgrade. The kitchen was small and faced north so we demolished some major walls and opened up two rooms into one to create one large kitchen with bi-fold doors facing west to catch the afternoon sun. The rest of the house received a makeover particularly the bathrooms. An air source heat pump was installed with underfloor heating pipes fitted into new concrete floors throughout ground floor. All external walls on the ground floor were stripped back and insulated to create a jacket of insulation to the house.
The clients wanted the dilapidated outhouse brought back to life incorporating two bedrooms with ensuites. The style was more beach house so beaded MDF panelling was used throughout using vibrant colours to set the theme. A new roof and floors were installed with insulated walls.
The property was full of small rooms so we took down quite a few to create one large open plan kitchen / lounge area on 1st floor in order to get the views. We reinstated the balcony with new double doors. The space on the top floor for the bathroom was tight to get a bath, shower, wc and basin but being creative we fitted bespoke glass to the edges of the bath to create a shower. To keep the beach look we built a beach hut main entrance porch.
This large house needed a little modernising and required new windows throughout – a mixture of sash and case look a like and fully reversible windows. We enlarged the main entrance porch and created a balcony above. We also constructed a separate self contained annex and made many ensuite bathrooms and separate bathrooms.
The old porch was rotting away so we built a new one, all finished in hardwood V’d lining to the exterior, hardwood off the shelf doors and single ply membrane to the roof with imitation standing seams.
The owners wanted to create more room for their young family so that everybody had their own space to work, play or relax. To achieve this we removed some walls and redesigned the layout moving the existing kitchen into the existing lounge which created a far better kitchen / dining room environment and created a lovely snug area. The island unit was hand made by us and we had to replicate some of the kitchen units to make the kitchen work. The solid oak table was made by us.
This flat was run down and in need of renovation so we completely stripped out all the walls and floors and the house was redesigned to have the kitchen and liveable space upstairs to take advantage of the views and have the bedrooms downstairs. We added a balcony with folding sliding doors to give an extra dimension and feature to the upstairs.
The balcony gives the client a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the panoramic views over the bay. It stretches from one bay window to the other making it the focal point of the house. Being all enclosed gives a perfect winter retreat and with 2 large hinged windows allow plenty of fresh air in when the weather permits. The windows are solid oak with a lead roof and lead frontage to give minimal maintenance.
This is a lovely old farmhouse which was renovated internally but the client also wanted a large open plan kitchen and living space. We built an extension with a large glazed cupular to maximise the light into the kitchen area.
